Oral Presentations
To provide an opportunity for participants to share and discuss the results of their work, there will be several concurrent sessions made up of volunteer papers. Volunteer sessions (groups of papers relating to a particular theme or topic that is relevant to the conference) will be allocated 60 to 90 minutes. Volunteer oral presentations will be 15 minutes in length, plus an additional 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
Those wishing to propose a session or present a volunteer paper must submit a proposal (including title, authors' names and contact information, and a maximum 300 word abstract).
Abstract submission will remain open until January 31, 2007. All volunteer submissions will be reviewed and proponents will be advised before March 15, 2007 (revised) regarding acceptance of their proposed presentation, session, or poster. Space and time constraints limit the number of oral presentations that can be accepted.
Concurrent Sessions will be organized based on the title and three themes of the conference: (a) Knowing and Understanding, (b) Prediction, and (c) Application of Ecological Knowledge. Each session will address one or more of these areas. Topics may include:
- Alien species invasions
- Carbon and nutrient cycling
- Climate change
- Competition, facilitation and succession
- Ecological classification of forests
- Ecosystem restoration
- Indicators and ecological science in certification
- Indigenous knowledge of ecosystems and its application to forest stewardship
- Linking ecological knowledge with stewardship
- Modeling and prediction
- Natural disturbance
- Silvicultural systems for multiple values
- And OTHERS...
